Introduction

Al-Haqqaniyya Arabic College, now completing its 27th year, was established with the aim of preserving and teaching Islam. It was founded by the current Principal, Ash-Shaikh M.H.M. Lafeer (Mursi), in the village of Daskara, located in Udunuwara electorate of the Kandy District, Sri Lanka.

The college officially commenced on Wednesday, 05-05-1995, with the admission of 21 students and two teachers. The Hifz Section began on Friday, 07-05-1999, at the Jumma Mosque in Daskara.

Official Commencement

The college began with 21 students and two teachers in Daskara, Udunuwara electorate, Kandy District.

07-05-1999

Hifz Section Started

The Hifz Section started at the Jumma Mosque in Daskara.

16-02-2000

Kitabu Section Established

The Kitabu Section was established with 15 students as a key expansion step.

02-02-2003

Campus Relocation

The college moved from Daskara Jumma Mosque to a dedicated facility with better infrastructure.

23-02-2005

Formal School Expansion

Formal school education was inaugurated with separate Tamil and English departments.

16-09-2012

Higher Studies and Special Units

Ma'had Ali, Dhauratul Hadith, and Special Qira'ath Studies were introduced at a grand convocation.

02-09-2013

Comparative Studies Unit

Sinhala Medium Religious Comparative Studies Unit was inaugurated.

31-03-2021

Ifta Division

Special Fiqh Studies Division (Ifta) was inaugurated by Amanullah Mufti.

Leadership and Inauguration Notes

The inaugural event was conducted under the leadership of former Administrative Head Al Usthad Marhoom Hanifa (Bahji), with guidance from Principal Lafeer (Mursi).

A Khutba sermon was delivered by Al Usthad Abdul Haliq (Devbandhi), Administrative Head of Jamia Ibn Umar College, Panadura. A special lecture followed by the Director of Colombo Al-Hasaniyya Arabic College, Late Al Usthad Niyas Muhammad.

Sheikhur Rahmani Jifri Hazrath inaugurated both the Hifz course and later the Sharia course in the key expansion phases.
